Newborn babies: Yes, genetics are what determines whether babies have a lot of hair or are close to bald.  Most babies are born with a shade of grey colored eyes and will change over the next year or longer.  Hair color in the first year and change as well.  Babies skin will be lighter or pinker as newborns and also change over time after birth.

Usually you can figure it by the date of either conception or the date of the last menstrual period, then using a pregnancy wheel (i'm sure there are online versions) that will calculate what the due date should be.

You can learn: There are a few ways to help: basal body temperature charting, monitoring your vaginal mucus patterns, strictly monitoring your periods to calculate most likely ovulation time, using urine test strips for luteinizing hormone .  Combining at least three of these and carefully keeping your records for at least 6-12 months can help you to best predict the most likely time to get pregnant.

Translocation chrom: A carrier of a translocation chromosome is normal. When a carrier goes to reproduce however, sometimes the translocation increases the risk of a miscarriage or a chromosomally abnormal baby. Risks are different for different translocations. Prenatal diagnosis can find out if the chromosomes in the fetus are normal or not.

european caucasians, ashkenazi jews — 1 in 29
hispanic americans — 1 in 46
african americans — 1 in 61
asian americans — 1 in 90
if both parents are carriers, the likelihood of a baby having CF is 1 in 4.
