Homosexuality: No, not usually.  One does not choose their sexuality.  One can choose to be celibate, but this can be a very painful and unfulfilled lifestyle choice.

I would recommend you get to see a compassionate therapist who can help you make the choices in your life that will be healthy and whole.  I would hope you can find a way to have compassion for yourself as you are.

Why ?: Fear is a normal reflex. Any casual sex will expose you to any STD's acquired by a potential partner in any of their prior encounters. You either wait until you are in a stable relationship with another virgin, or accept the risk of a STD. Condoms can reduce but not eliminate your risks.
