what is better for strep or a sore throat.... gargle with warm salt water or warm baking soda water?  i tried diluted poroxide water, too much foam.

Peroxide best: I recommend half- strength peroxide to my patients. Instead of gargling take half a mouthful and lean back and swish the solution for a minute or two before spitting it out. Repeat 2 additional times. Peroxide has antiseptic properties which is helpful  during an infection.

have a sore throat. going to doc tomorrow to test for strep. tea/salt water don't help. what's an otc medication that numbs throat temporarily?

PHARYNGITIS: Chloraseptic  and zinc lozenges are effective while you are waiting further evaluation.

Remedies: Consider making tea with 2 tsp of marshmallow root bark per 1cup of hot water (steep in a covered pot for at least 5 minutes).  Drink several times a day or as needed to relieve throat pain.  
Consider adding 2 tsp of slippery elm bark to 1 cup of hot water (steep for at least 5 minutes in a covered teapot). Drink this as needed to relieve pain or a few times per day. Cont'd.

alot throat mucus, especially night when need go to sleep. gargling with salt water 2x dat been drinking more water during day. any further suggestions? thank you?

: Could be GERD and you can try discussing with your Dr and if OK try elevating the legs under the head of your bed as gravity never sleeps.

Doctor can examine: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other causes. Usually, a person sees her doctor if the sore throat is bothersome (as in this case), recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and acetaminophen or ibuprofen temporarily help.

sore throat on one side when i swallow. no tonsils. i see a penny sized lumpy bump way back on that right side what looks to be on the pharyngeal tongue and/or throat. what could it be, will gargling with salt water help?

Throat problem : This needs to be seen. There are several possible reasons for your concern. Tonsil stones. Tonsillith comes to mind.

See physician: Please see a physician.  The sore on the roof of your mouth is most likely related to viral or bacterial infection related to your other symptoms.  You can't be diagnosed over the internet and therefore you need to see a physician for the proper diagnosis and treatment if necessary.

Should be examined.: Hello. You most likely have an upper respiratory tract infection. An examination will guide as to whether it is of bacterial, viral or other nature. With swelling, and a pimple- it must be seen and treated since it appears to be worsening. After an examination, a decision will be taken as to whether antibiotics, throat swabs etc are needed. Sorry- difficult to prescribe without seeing you.
