Hpv is transmitted through exchange of body fluids including semen and vaginal secretions.  All 3 doses should be completed prior to any sexual activity.

Generating protective antibodies to the 4 strains in the vaccine is useful to those approaching the sexually active years, but of limited value to those already exposed.Insurers seldom cover it over 26 and it is an expensive series.I consider it a good vaccine with &gt; 30 years of research behind it. Your call.

Depends: This is a vaccine that can prevent the user from developing cervical, anal or esophageal cancer in his/her lifetime.Carriers sometimes never know they were exposed, yet can get the disease & pass it. There is a high risk of passage of one or more std's during an unplanned or non-consensual encounter. (which happens far too often) i think it's a good idea.

No: I have given hundreds of Gardasil vaccines to my patients, as well as to my own daughters.  I have never seen, in any of my patients, or my own children, any health problems after vaccination.  Yes, the shot may hurt, and some patients pass out after the shot, but this is an acute issue, not a long term one.
