is fruit/fruit juice ok for me if i'm hypoglycemic?

Accepted Answer

Only during symptoms: "hypogycemias" are real in diabetic patients that take too much medication or don't eat after taking medications. Unless there is  tumor producing low glucose (insulinoma) most people keep normal levels of glucose even while starving. If you recover from your symptoms quickly with the fruit or juice is possible you have real hypoglycemia but is better to prove &measure it ( must be less than 60 ).

can you please describe the negative effects of drinking too much fruit juice?

Too much sugar: Our bodies need a balance of sugar and fiber, with much more fiber than sugar.  Since most of what is removed from fruit to make juice is the fiber, it is the opposite balance of what we need.  Most whole fruit has much more fiber than sugar.  Search youtube for the video, "sugar, the bitter truth, " by robert lustig, a pediatric endocrinologist.  It is about 1.5 hrs long but breaks it down well.

i have not eaten fruit since i was 6 (with the exception of tomatoes and fruit juice). am i at high risk for gout or other diseases?

Accepted Answer

No: These foods do not effect gout.

do the oxidized molecules in blended vegetable or fruit juice become oxidants? do juices contain both oxidants and anti-oxidants?

Maybe but no matter: the health benefits of the fruit or vegetable is the most important thing.  we now understand that the oxidants or anti-oxidants aren't that important.

the fruit juice i give my 20 month old had less than a gram of sugar but did not realize it contained sucralose. is sucralose harmful to toddlers?

Probably ok: It has not been shown that sucralose is harmful for children or toddlers.  But I would try to limit.

18 month old has diahreah for 3 days and no other symptoms.  can no sugar added organic fruit juice be causing it?  he prefers juices over milk lately

Yes: Fruit juice even no sugar added has sugar and too much can cause diarrhea.

is it ok to keep sipping freshly made fruit juice(acocado, grape, sweetlime or pomogrenate)juice all day(9am to 5pm).i have hyperhydrosis/h.active sns?

Fruit juice: Drinking fruit juice amounts to wasted calories and may also cause diarrhea.Nothing is as good as a glass of cool water.

Overactive bladder: Yes, this juice could cause an overactive bladder but there are many other reasons for an overactive bladder. For starters please stop taking the fruit juice. If after a week your bladder is under control - great! If not please see your doctor to find the real cause of an overactive bladder.

Not good : Will damage teeth and cause GI problems.   Please stop.  Hope this helps.

can you be allergic to fruit juice?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Allergic antibodies (ige) can be formed to any large complex molecule that is recognized as foreign to the body such as: animal and plant proteins or carbohydrates, bacteria, fungi, insect venoms or excrement (dust mites) or even synthetic molecules such as drugs. The presence of ige does not, by it self,  confirm true allergy; clinical symptoms occurring after exposure must also be noted.
