Different situations: It is not the frequent urination that stimulates thirst but the amount of urine. If you loose lots of urine( in certain conditions), that makes you dehydrated which stimulates thirst. Any condition that results in the body loosing fluid; sweating, diarrhea, will also cause thirst. In addition high salt intake stimulates thirst. In summary thirst is the way our body protects itself from dehydration

Rare diseases that present with similar symptoms are pancreatic disease, or pituitary disease.

Stone or UTI: Pain radiating from the groin to the back is common for both urinary tract infections or stones that are blocking a ureter.  Irritation causes the frequent feeling of needing to urinate.  You should stop by a clinic for a urinalysis to get a diagnosis.  It's quick and easy.  Hope this helps!

May be caffeine: What kind of sweets are you eating? If there is chocolate, it may be the caffeine in the sweets that is acting as a diuretic.
