Freq sinus infection: The most common contributor to sinus infections is nasal mucosa inflammation from viral URI (cold) and untreated or uncontrolled environmental allergies and hay fever.
Smoking, structural problems in the nose such as septal deviation, turbinate anomaly or enlargement, nasal polyps and foreign material (kids) increase risk of infections.

Difficult: Other than frequent hand-washing to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria and avoiding sick contacts, there isn't a lot more you can do.  Certainly controlling nasal allergies can help, with the use of nasal sprays and other meds.  Saline irrigation may help.

Several reasons: Normally the sinuses drain into the nasal cavity. In some patients drainage can be inadequate because of scarring, tumor or congenital reasons. Alternatively other patients suffer from chronic mucosal inflammation due to allergies, recurrent upper respiratory infections, smoking or other irritants. Both conditions can cause recurrent sinus infections.

Theoretically: A "small" nasal passage can lead to frequent sinus infections especially if you have nasal inflammation from a cold, nasal allergies or a deviated nasal septum that is interfering with sinus and nasal mucus flow. Chech with an ENT to assess nasal airway size and sinus anatomy. Nasal endoscopy and sinus ct may be needed.

Keep the nose workin: Over the counter decongestants regularly, a vaporizor at bed time, salene nasal spray.
The nose is the guardian of your lungs.  As sure as you plug up your nose you may be looking at the bronchitis.
