Checkup: This could be nothing, however at the age of 77 it is a good idea to go see your primary care physician to have a checkup. At least you can get medication for the nausea, and potentially get lap test s as he or she deems appropriate.

Sounds like: Poor diet.  Get rid of all the junk in it, particularly all the sweet stuff.

Tx underlying cause.: Probably the simplest way to reduce nausea is with ginger. You can drink slightly flattened ginger ale or nibble on crystallized ginger.  Or pour boiling water over freshly sliced organ ginger & steep x 5 min in a covered pot. Sip.  Aromatherapy: sweet orange (citrus sinensis), peitigrain (citrus reticulata), mandarin (citrus reticulata) are different citrus scents that can decrease nausea.

is frequent nausea common with gallstones? especially in the morning, evening and after i eat or drink something. it's more like queasiness.

Yes: Often, gallstones don't give specific "symptoms".  Many people may experience bloating, dyspepsia, nausea, "heartburn", or other non-specific abdominal complaints.  An abdominal ultrasound is the best initial study for diagnosis.

Hypoglycemia: Symptoms of hypoglycemia include the following:  diaphoresis (sweating), pallor, shakiness, hunger, nausea, dizziness, malaise, headache, tingling around mouth or fingers, AMS, seizures. If you eat a sugary substance this is a stimulant to increase insulin which causes the low blood sugar symptoms. If available you could check accucheck with symptoms or see if eating something helps.

Cervical stenosis: The frequent nausea is not related to the cervical laminectomy or stenosis.  Sometimes antibiotics around the time of surgery can cause diarrhea or a new medicine can have nausea as a side effect. See your medical doctor for the evaluation

Needs evaluation : Your uncle needs to be evaluated by his doctor . The constant /frequent nausea may be unrelated to the surgery so a proper evaluation needs to be made .

ever since i got an intestinal virus, i have had frequent nausea and a minor pain that is hard to describe in my mid upper abdomen. what could it be?

Takes time: It can take a couple of weeks to recover from a stomach infection.  You might need to take a probiotic for awhile and an acid reducer, like zantac, (ranitidine) Axid or Prilosec to help things heal all the way.  Usually a couple of weeks of these and you should be good as new.
