urinalysis showed leu 125 & nit positive. 5 hours later started my period after test. can that cause false positive in leu & nit? does it only affect protein levels? dr. didn't  mention protein? 1 symptom- vaginal irritation. no pee burn or frequency?

: Positive leukocytes (LEU) and nitrate (NIT) could mean urinary tract infection (UTI), but that's less likely without painful urinaation, urgency, or frequency. Vaginal "irritation" often is due to yeast infection, which could cause these test results if the urine specimen was contaminated with vaginal fluid (i.e. not a carefully "clean catch" midstream specimen).

Prostate: Urgency and frequency suggest a urinary tract infection or possibly an enlarged prostrate. If it only happens during stressful time and if it has been going on 10 years,infection is unlikely and it may be stress related. Have your prostate examined.

Can do urine tests: A woman who has monthly periods can just check a urine pregnancy test one week after missing a period. The tests are very accurate by that time. If she is healthy and fertile, and is having sex regularly, then pregnancy is quite possible. For urinary symptoms, a woman can see her primary care doctor or ob-gyn doctor to test for urine infection.

can you have low urine hcg levels (lthan 15 or 25) and still be ovulating and having a normal cycle in frequency. could low hcg cause heavy and long periods? (not above 25 as neg. urine pregnant tests)

Hcg means pregnancy: Any persistent level of HCG in your system means that the pregnancy hormone (and a pregnancy)  is still in your system.  Visit the local OB doctor, and ask him or her to find out why you still have a positive HCG level.  You might have an early ectopic pregnancy or something like this.  You will not ovulate if you have any levels of HCG in your system.

See your doctor: Bladder &amp; pelvic floor symptoms often are worse in the second half of the cycle. Some women have endometriosis in the bladder, which can cause the symptoms you describe. Get a workup for bladder infection, and if this is negative, get an evaluation for overactive bladder. If you are a smoker, this may include a cystoscopy to look for bladder tumors, although rare.

Get checked out: It's probably contaminant but in rare instances there is endometriosis in the bladder and you can get blood in your urine when menstruating.  There are some other possibilities of connections between 2 areas.  See a urologist.  I'd start with a cath urine test while menstruating.

Accepted Answer

Not really!: You may be having urethral irritation, especially if you are having sex during your period.  You will be slightly "drier, " and more subject to irritation.  If this is not the case, see your ob/gyn doctor.
