Start slow: It's best to give your GI tract a rest in the beginning.  Focus on hydration. When you do eat, start with clear liquids and then advance gradually if tolerated.  Good things to eat included bananas, toast, rice, broth, and apples.  Avoid caffeine, alcohol, milk products, acidic food, and fatty food.  Stay off milk products until you've been better for 1-2 weeks.

GE: You can probably advance to solid food that is not fried. Boiled, broiled or baked with limited fat contents. You may want to avoid lactose containing food since transient deficiency in the enzyme that breaks down lactose can occur. You may get alternative point of view from other physicians

BRAT: The brat diet is good for now ( bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast, )
if you continue to vomit then i would see a physician in urgent care or an er. Stay hydrated as well.

No food : Make sure you hydrate well. As long as feeling nauseated you are unlikely to be able to keep food down. A bland diet is recommended and gradually increasing quantity once no longer nauseated. If unable to keep liquids down iv fluids will likely be needed.

Many possibilities.: First of all it takes a day for the magnesium oxide to get thru. Infection is pretty common. There can be other food intolerances. Personally, I have a little trouble with large amounts of fruit juice (&gt; 12 ounces) and also if I eat anything that gives me hives EXTERnally gives loose stools and gas INTERNally. 
Flagyl helps most infections. Increased fiber often helps.cannot say in your particular

Stomach Flu: Start w clear liquid like water,  slightly flattened soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip, sip, sip. Work up to solids w bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy &amp; high fat foods. Rest.

Tums would be ok: But ginger might be better. Place thin slivers of fresh organic ginger in tea pot with boiling water – steep for 5 minutes &amp; then slowly sip.

Depends on strain.: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks.  Sip often to prevent dehydration. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy ; high fat foods. You might be able to eat normally as early as a day or two - it depends of strain. Gastroenteritis can last 1 to 10 days. Rest.
