Shingles: Shingles is reactivation of the varicella virus. You can only get it if you had chicken pox in the past.

Usually: Usually 2 to 3 weeks but sometimes the pain or unusual sensations can last weeks or months.

i got the shingles 3 days ago.  should i still make food for a baby shower?

Yes: As long as you practice good hand hygiene and the lesions are in a place that can be covered it's ok for you to be around other olks.  That being said as an added precaution i would recommend not being around folks with low immunity like patients on chemotherapy, people on  anti rejection medicine or HIV patients.

2-4 weeks: From the beginning of the rash to when the scabs fall off usually is around 2-4 weeks.

Shingles: Nausea and anorexia are not likely to be related to his episode of herpes zoster (shigles).  He should see a doctor and be fully evaluated.  Something may be going on that made him susceptible to getting shingles.

Shingles: Antibiotics will not help. Shingles is caused by a virus. With Acyclovir or Valtrex (valacyclovir) the lesions can start to crust in 5 - 7 days.

i've had the shingles now for two months and the rash near my ankle will not go away or heal in fact i think it's getting worse. have been on antibiot?

Not shingles: The rash of shingles should NOT persist for that long, so I tend to doubt that is your diagnosis. It's best to see an Infectious Diseases doctor who specializes in viral infections and can tell if this is truly shingles or herpes zoster. There is antiviral treatment available as well as a vaccine. I'm suspicious though it is something else. Hopefully you can see a doctor or upload the photo here.

Shingles: Shingles is a blistering viral infection (herpes zoster). Check with your doctor. You should not be working with food if you have active shingles on your hand because shingles can lead to chicken pox in people that are not immune to it. The blisters settle within 10 days to 3 weeks, and are non-contagious when they have dried up.  If they have dried up, use plenty of hand cream after washing.

allergy, intolerance, or viral? i get vertigo when i eat nuts, chocolate and caffeine, and basic dizziness from other foods. started after shingles.

Labyrinthitis: Depending on which nerve root was affected by your shingles outbreak, you may have "irritated" nerves that innervate the labyrinth, or balance centers of the ears.  If shingles was not a case of the head and neck area, then i recommend a simple blood test such as imunocap, which tests for food allergies, thus helping you identify allergies directly and minimize your exposure to them.

Shingles: I'm surprised to find out your doctor was not sure, because Shingles rash and distribution are very unique.
Anyway treating the Shingles with Anti-viral medication decrease the pain and also duration and also the complication afterward including Post-herpetic neuralgia.
