Normally: A tendon injury will heal faster, but this depends on which muscles or tendons, as blood flow differs in different areas, as well as stresses and specific use injuries. As a very vague, quick answer, i would most likely say tendon as they more often have better blood flow.

Depends: There is a big difference between ligaments and tendons.  Tendons connect muscles to bones, if certain tendons are torn they need to be treated surgically (achilles, biceps, rotator cuff).  Ligaments are the ropes that connect bones to bones, many times these heal on their own.

Tendon: Tendons have clear indications for immediate reconstruction and care. Ligament injuries are not visualized on x-ray, and are usually not treated in cases of fracture.  If you have persistent myofascial pain or instability from injury seek a physician who has learned prolotherapy techniques for rehabilitation. Also, anti-inflamatory medicines taken for injury block ligaments from "self healing".

Months: It can take a long time to heal torn ligaments, especially in areas like the back that you really can't give full rest to. Think of football players that get turf-toe and it bothers them the entire season - it's very similar. I would highly recommend physical therapy if not doing it. Can help you with alternative ways to sit/move/lie to reduce stress on that area of back.

Splint: takes 6-8 weeks for ligament tear to heal and 4 months for swelling to subside. Tendon injuries often require surgery so see a hand surgeon if any loss of motion

It is possible.: HAve you been followed by an orthopedic surgeon for your problems. If they have not healed I would consult a specialist. Consider physical therapy as an alternative. if all conservative therapies fail you may be a candidate for surgery.

Yes: Yes it will. I would also advise you take some glucosamine and chondroitin, be very gentle if you exercise , and if you do exercise to do it in a pool or in the bath tub. This is all in general . Every case  of cause is a little different therefore it is good that you be seen by a processional.

Professional attention by PCP/ Ortho Consult and or Physical Therapist is needed to pilot one through potential chronic challenges that might arise if not adequately taken care of.

Conservative is best: Rest, heat, supportive medications (muscle relaxants or antiinflammatory if needed) are the best course of action.  Physical therapy can also be helpful.  I'd leave the prolotherapy or any other injection as a last resort.
