Maybe everything...: If you're not having any symptoms, ( the vast majority of patients with gallstones do not, ) you do not need a special diet. Now, if you begin to have symptoms (bloating, dyspepsia, nausea, right upper quadrant or right upper back pain, ) then a lower fat diet may reduce your symptoms. Good luck.

Low fat: Fatty foods cause the gallbladder to contract.  They are not necessarily "unsafe" but may cause discomfort. If that is the case, you may want to consider treatment (surgery).

Hard to know.: Both your family history and bcp use could have contributed to gallstone formation--it's hard to know which was more important.  Regardless, you are joining a very large group of people who have gallstones.  More important than the stones is whether they are causing any pain--"silent" gallstones require no further treatment.

Trial-and-error, but: In general, eat foods low in fats or oils, with smaller meal sizes but don't be totally fat-free. We still want bile to flow from the gall bladder. There are supplements advertised to do all sorts of magical remedies, but don't help. Very few supplements have research studies to show benefits. Sellers make claims based on theories, animal tests, testimonials, etc... but not on good human research.

Abd pain : In order to properly answer your question, see a doctor in person. Right lower abdominal pain can be several things. Liver disease, colon disease, kidney pain, pneumonia, gall bladder dysfunction. In the setting of artery occlusion, it raises many more questions for a new clot. One can't just say avoid fatty food to prevent inflaming gall bladder disease because that presumes the diagnosis.

Anything you want: If you have no symptoms then carry on. Just know that there may be a time when a stone gets stuck where the gallbladder empties and it may then cause severe pain and possible infection. In that setting you should see a doctor and see if the gallbladder needs removing. There is no diet that will make the stones go away.

Some: Find avoiding fatty foods helps with gallbladder symptoms. No diet will make the stones go away. The only viable solution to significant gallbladder pain is removing the gallbladder.

As tolerated : Low fat diets are often recommended, but the reality is you can eat whatever you can tolerate. If a particular food or beverage brings on right upper abdominal pain, nausea and/or vomiting, avoid the offending item. It's also important to consider moderation when consuming food in order to avoid over eating, if symptoms are progressive, may need to see a general surgeon for a consult re: surgery.
