i have primary cmv infection, 18 weeks pregnant. what are the babies odds of getting it and being affected? dont want to do amniocentesis just ultrasounds and i want to do immunoglobulin while pregnant. are these good ideas? im upset/ worried sick?

: Unfortunately, documented infection with CMV in the first and second trimesters can cause birth defects such as hearing loss, and in severe cases, cause fetal death in utero. Obtain a referral to a maternal fetal medicine specialist in OBGYN from your OB physician for guidance.

Absolutely yes: A child can inhale the mycobacteria from an active person coughing on them. The TB then travels to the lung where a healthy immune system will quarantine it surrounded by nearby lymph nodes. The child remains healthy and usually has no symptoms. They may remain symptom free until their immune system declines and the disease becomes active.

Yes, I think so.: It may not be an absolute certainty, but i would advise the physician of the fact that there was a primary complex diagnosed and treated (assuming it was) either before the TB test or at the time of results if they are positive. I have never had positive results, but i was told that i had a primary complex - i always tell them the history just to be informationally complete. Best!

Yes: If you had it and it was cured, you had tuberculosis. Cure does not give you a clean slate. There are some conditions where a patient considered cured may re-activate. It would also be an important historical feature when they consider doing any form of TB screening. If they don't have the proper information they may treat you as a new case of TB.

Kids are susceptible: Kids are quite susceptible to tuberculosis and it appears your daughter must have contracted it. In the Philippines, there are many, many cases. Hopefully she can get good treatment -and I expect it to resolve completely and she would be cured. Not sure 'where' you live in the Phils, but San Lazaro in Manila has knowledgeable staff. Good nutrition is also essential at this time for recovery. Ingat

Maybe: Some primary TB infections leave scars in the lung that might show up on chest Xray, but not necessarily. Many (most?) people have entirely normal Xrays after primary TB.

Accepted Answer

No: Primary complex if tuberculosis (TB). Having TB currently or in the past should not alter the results of modern HIV tests. If a person is not monogamous with an HIV-negative partner, meaning she has other possible but low-risk exposures, she can get see her primary care doctor and ask about routine screening. It might be annual testing.

i had primary complex(tb in children)around 10 years of my age, now iam 20 years old i have mild cold with cough frequenly , did the tb re- appear to me?

Probably not: Besides cough, reactivation pulmonary TB usually presents with anorexia, weight loss and night sweats.  If your cough persists, see a doc and get an xray.

Normal.: I hope you were treated with AntiTB medicines and now there is a scar- Granuloma seen in the Xray. This is the healed TB;  Good thing you do not have any symptoms. 
No need for treatment. I am sure your doctor must have guided you the same.

does every primary complex diagnosis cause scars on the lungs? is this lifetime or any lung scar can clear up?

Primary complex: Not every primary complex leaves a lung scar seen on X-Ray. It usually takes some calcification or growth of granulation tissue to be seen. Some of them heal completely without Leaving any trace.
