Food allergies?: First one needs to know whether the food allergies are clearly documented since your child may well have a malabsorption problem which may not  be from food allergies.  If you have indeed eliminated all possible food allergens, then the poop should have become normal in less than a week. Consult a pediatric gastroenterologist but may try a hydrolyzed protein formula for the time being.

Call pediatrician: There are antihistamines that can be used for infants. The dose should be adjusted for your infant's weight. Non-sedating antihistamines are preferred as drowsiness after hives may be a symptom of a more serious allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can also sometimes cause unexpected irritability. You will want to discuss these issues with your pediatrician.

Many possible ones.: Symptoms of infant food allergies can include poor weight gain, hives, bloody diarrhea, severe eczema, facial/eyelid/tongue/lip/throat swelling, itching, chest tightness, wheeze, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid pulse, dizziness, low blood pressure, fainting, and/or respiratory or cardiac arrest. Please see your child's doctor or an allergist asap for evaluation if you suspect a food allergy.

Allergy test: We allergists prefer a prick skin test and we do it in the office and it is relatively painless. There are also blood tests, but depending on the lab you go to and the technique they use, some are not that reliable.

Food allergy symptom: In general, there are 3 ways food allergy can present. The most dramatic one that we often refer to is immediate reaction that can cause hives, nausea, vomiting, throat closing and can be life threatening. Other types of food allergy can be more subtle and present chronically like esophagitis, gastroenteritis, colitis (difficulty swallowing, abdo pain, bloody stool...) or eczema.

Diet/fiber/water: Add soluble fiber, fresh fruits, vegetables,8-10 glasses of water/day and avoid gas forming foods: onions, cabbage, cauliflower,  radishes, lentils etc.- that should help alot

Start a food diary: Though it is time consuming, you may wish to start a food diary. Begin with simple foods (only!) to which you KNOW you don’t react. Then add a new food ever 3 or 4 days and watch for an allergic reaction. Note on paper or smart phone (there’s a food allergy app for this) no, mild, or bad reaction. This takes time and diligence, but you should be able to find out which foods to avoid.
