every once in a while my whole body will start itching and tingling all over. there is no rash, the sensation feels under the skin. it can last days then go. antihistamines dont work. its not a food allergy/intolerance. what could it be?

No: IgE mediated food allergy is a abnormal reaction to food allergen and is not is one's head. There can certainly be patients who think they may have food allergy and develop food aversion but this is not true IgE mediated food allergy.

Unlikely: The common symptoms of food allergies are itching, hives and swelling (mouth, tongue, lips, throat), vomiting, diarrhea and in some cases asthma or anaphylaxis (severe reaction).   Numbness suggests involvement of the nerves which is less likely with allergic reactions.

Avoid the food: The best current treatment for food allergies is avoiding that particular food.  After avoidance, antihistamines can decrease itching associated with food allergies.  The use of steroid creams or ointments may help, but should be monitored by a physician. An allergist can assist in identifying the specific food trigger.

Eczema?: Rash if itchy and scaly or flaky around ears and some spots on face  ( especially hair line ) are common for various skin inflammation as " seborrhoic  dermatitis, eczema, or contact dermatitis  - exposure to some allergen. Watch for metal( nick) exposure in glasses, jewelries .Apply moisturizer as Vitamin A+D ointment, if itchy short use of steroid cream ok. Avoid scratching. Try antihistamine.

More likely bites: If you have pets at home, insect bites would be my bet.  If you live in housing with a lot of cockroach issues, roach bites do happen.

Food Allergy Symptom: Typical symptoms of food allergy include: itchy, hives, lip/tongue/throat swelling, wheezing, shortness of breath, and in severe cases can be life threatening. If one is food allergic and avoids the food allergen then these symptoms will resolve.

my 10.5 month old has never slept thru the night. nursing and is used to cosleeping but tried starting in his own bed last 2 weeks, he wakes screaming throw head bk arching wont take binky or nurse and seems in pain. food allergy? gas? teeth?

: You trained him to co-sleep &amp; this is the result. Try training him to self- settle by reading/sitting near him as he goes to sleep. Gradually move from close to more distant. When he acquires the ability to self-settle to begin sleep, he can do so during the night when his sleep cycle briefly wakes him. Do not nurse him down or use a binky. Neither promote self-settling success.
