can a thyroid cyst disappear on its own?

Thyroid cysts: Yes, thyroid cysts fill with fluid, they can sometimes get rather large, and then they can go away by themselves.  When thyroid ultrasound and biopsy is done, simple cysts are often not drained, because they only come back anyway, and they are not dangerous.  If this is your problem, you may wish to talk to your endocrinologist about this.

Thyroid cyst: Thyroid cysts are common in goiters that have multiple nodules.  Cysts can be drained with a needle, but they often come back. If the cyst is not part of a cancer, and if it is not uncomfortable or painful, it is reasonable to do nothing; follow it periodically with ultrasound to make sure it is not changing.  If painful/uncomfortable or suspicious, surgery may be indicated, but usually not needed.

Walls: Septations are walls in the cyst that are benign. You should not have to worry about these results unless your health care provider says differently.

Usually benign: Thyroid cyst is benign lesion, contains mainly fluid. Reactive nodes are inflammatory and reacting to some type of inflammation. Thyroid cancer can be associated with nodes containing metastatic  tumor cells. Nethertheless you should have follow up scan in 3-6 months to make sure things remain stable. Sometimes cancer can have sone cystic components.

Nodules are associated with  Hashimoto's, as is iodine deficiency and family history.  The cyst  since it contains solid elements should be monitored and if larger around  8-10 mm should be biopsied to check for malignancy. which easy to treat successfully. f/u/ w/ doc
