: This is hard to know but likely under study in limited institutional settings. In my state there are limited approved uses on a compassionate basis for treatment of childhood seizures. Knowing autism as I do, I cannot see a biological/physiological reason to expect it to do anything on the vast majority of these patients.

Fish oil: Fish oil is very safe, if you make sure the company distills and purifies its products to be free of heavy metals like mercury and other contaminants.  Research the companies. Give it a try: The problem is getting them to actually take it! :-) if you can actually get the kid to ingest it, i recommend a trial of fish oil for most with autism. Although more research is needed, some research suggests modest benefits from fish oil, and no evidence of any harm. In general, fish oil and a multivitamin (+/- iron depending on constipation) are a good idea for most kids with autism.

Although studies on : efficacy &amp; safety have barely begun, parents of children with intractable epilepsy, with or without Autism, have purchased CBD oil in Colorado. Since medical marijuana is now legal in Nevada, affected families don't have to leave home. My hometown has  always  promoted cohort situational behaviors in visitors, leaving the visitors feeling slightly naughty &amp; happy &amp; us with no state income tax.

They are offered with the statement "your doc doesn't know about this" or they are trying to "hide" the benefit. Autism gradually improves over time in most cases with loving supportive care.These programs are a waste of time but do what you wish.

Flaxseed: Flaxseed contains fiber and if taken without adequate water could cause  constipation. I am unaware of flaxseed oil causing constipation.

This will provide more of the benefits from the lignans and the omega – 3 –fatty acids in the flaxseed. With flaxseed oil, it is quite important that it be cold pressed.
