A "fixed": defect means there is an area that is not perfused in either stress or rest.  Generally this implies a prior infarct.  Sometimes there are artifactual causes for this finding, so talk to your doc about it.

: It means he had a past heart attack that left a rather large area of heart muscle damage. How serious it is now or might be in the future depends on his symptoms, examination, EKG, and other studies his doctors might recommend. Please see your cardiologist for follow up of the limitation of blood flow seen on the current test

Talk to cardiologist: This reads like it is likely a normal report that you should review with your doctor. Doctors who read a study often do not have the context of the study or patient when they have to read it. In this case, the cardiologist is saying that the study shows an abnormality that is normal in most people. If you had some unique medical history or were in the ICU, then their interpretation may not apply.

More info needed: Are you having symptoms or problems you believe to be a result of a vsd that was closed?  A vsd may cause problems due to excess blood flow through the lungs, or due to dilation ("stretch") of left sided heart structures.  Closure of the vsd, if early enough, reverses these problems, but if closed in adolescence or adulthoot, some problems may not disappear.  Many factors contribute.

Surgery: In general surgery is required. Investigationally, this can be repaired by inserting a catheter into a blood vessel in the groin, up into the heart, and across the defect. A closure device is then opened up and occludes the vsd. This is commonly used for atrial septal defect but technically more difficult for a ventricular septal defect.
