Depends: What std are we talking about? Herpes may not show up, but be present and manifest with 'big time" symptoms in the individual, but more likely in a partner years after exposure.

Possibly: Many types of STDs, including chlamydia and HPV, may not show any symptoms in a person who has the infection. They can easily pass the infection to someone else without knowing it. The best thing to do is to ALWAYS use condoms whenever you have sex. Get tested whenever you have a new partner, but understand that the tests may not be positive when it is early exposure.

i tested positive for hsv 2, igg 3.4 , i have never had symptoms, or felt any discomfort. i do std yearly, and first time doing hsv as i noticed never tested. do i need to be on medicine? also, any chance this is false? not likely , right since 1.09?

: Very likely a true positive, i.e. you have HSV2. (Low positives often are false, but above 3.0 usually means infection.) OTOH, the tests aren't perfect and consider a repeat test. If still positive, best to see an infectious diseases physician or other doc who understands STIs and herpes well. Good luck.
