It varies a lot: The "average" time is usually between 12 and 24 wks of pregnancy.  Different things contribute to the variability, including whether this is the first pregnancy (takes longer to show usually), and women gain wt differently during pregnancy depending on how much they eat.  Body shape plays a role, and a thin person usually shows a lot sooner than an overweight person.

Tests are accurate: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.

my periods haven't started yet. i took a pregnancy test but itcame out negative. my tummy looks like i've got a baby bump and i am also getting symtpoms of pregnancy. what should i do?

Pregnancy possible: The symptoms above can be seen in pregnancy.  Home pregnancy test can show false negatives on occasion depending what time of day tested, how much water taken in, ect...  See your doctor and get a blood test to know for sure.  In the meantime, refrain from alcohol or cigarettes until you find out.

im visiting my ob on tuesday and will certainly bring this up too?

: A "pregnancy bump" generally is able to be felt at 16-18 weeks of pregnancy.  If there are symptoms of breast tenderness, nausea, get a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.  Your period should be very delayed well prior to being able to reliably feel a "pregnancy bump".
