Chondromalac/compart: When knees develop early tendonitis change, there can be periods of flare where inflammation and pain can develop behind the kneecap due to cartilage tears. This is also called patellar chondromalacia.There is also concern for compartment syndrome given your vascular complaints. It is thus best to see a Sports Medicine &amp;/or Vascular MD to diagnose what is going on and make sure of the diagnosis.

Sounds: like you have internal "derangement"(= cartilage tear) in your knee  joint and the instability is remedied by overusing muscles in your thigh!
You should have these symptoms evaluated and I see you are a US resident...why no insurance..apply for insurance via The Affordable Health Care Act ("Obamacare") depending upon your State you will be offered low cost or no cost insurance)

Call your surgeon: pain of that severity radiating into your leg after back surgery to take pressure off the nerve root is concerning and might indicate swelling or other problems at the surgical site.  Please get in touch with the operating surgeon right away.

See details: You first need to have the issue evaluated to determine the cause. I see you are already on a narcotic (Norco). I would urged that you find other ways to treat your pain at age 22 without resorting to narcotics.

See medical provider: A twisting injury to your knee can be a number of things from a sprain to arthritis flair up or cartilage tearing.  See a medical provider for an evaluation with X-rays.  You may also need an MRI to look for ligament or cartilage tearing.

See your Docs.: Your symptoms suggest a l3-4/l4-5 lesion in your spine; or a pelvic lesion. 
You certainly need to see a spine surgeon and your doc to get a pelvic ultrasound to help diagnosing it.

Pinched nerve: The left leg symptoms are characteristic of a pinched nerve at the groin. The coldness of the left foot most likely is a sensation subsequent to the pinched nerve rather than true coldness of the skin. Truly cold foot would be caused by blockage of the artery supplying the foot. I recommend consulting a neurologist for evaluation of your left leg symptoms.

Radiation: Yes, pain can radiate down the leg from the knee. Do you have swelling, pain at night? Was this judged on exam or an injury history?
