Infectious tenosynovitis is a medical emergency and requires aggressive antibiotics and surgical drainage. Even paranichial infections around the nail require antibiotics. See your pcp or a hand surgeon.

Ice & nSAID's: Ice at the injection site is probably the quickest way to alleviate the pain after a trigger injection. Otc nsaid's are also very helpful. I like to give oral steroid for a few days as well. I nice trick is to take a golf ball and put it in the freezer. Once it's cold, put it on a table and rub the sore part of your hand over the ball. This combines the effects of cold with message.
