98.6 F equals 37 C: Usually, a person has a mild fever and can ask her primary care doctor to evaluate if her temperature gets to 100 F, which would be about 38 C. In normal, healthy people, fevers are due to infections in most cases. That said, there are many other causes of fevers. Each patient is different, meaning a person who is normally at 97.5 all the time can be having a fever at 99.

??????????: I don't really call this much if anything to be concerned about. Body temperature is often just a reflection of their metabolism &amp; regular daily variation places it at the high end in the afternoon &amp; low in deep sleep. If he is otherwise well I would not pursue the issue further. He should have annual checkups like any other kid his age. Discuss it with his doc at that time.

Bring him to Peds: He needs an evaluation. Bring him to your doctor or to er for an evaluation, high fever in infant during their first year is concerning for sepsis/uti. It might be also some viral illness, but it&#x27;s better to check in your peds office.

Take him in: A temperature is a normal response to illness and not a reason to panic. HOWEVER a sleepy/floppy/lethargic child is cause concern and should definitely be evaluated by a health care professional

Maybe: Sometimes a mild fever is of no consequence.  If you also have other symptoms, it could be something more serious.  If you feel bad in addition to the fever, the symptoms can help a doctor figure out what's wrong.  For example, a mild fever with congestion and cough might be a cold, but high fever with neck pain and headache could be meningitis.  So the symptoms are everything.

How do you FEEL?: I bet you got a little bit of an infection someplace. What does your physician think? If you feel okay, maybe a follow-up in a few weeks would be appropriate, or if you still feel fine, ignore it if your physician's not concerned
