Hard to say: This question is difficult to answer, because we aren't typically measuring the fetal heartbeat over extended periods of time at this gestational age. Possible technical error .  There's not much to do ---&gt; continue to watch the pregnancy. It's normal for fetuses to have cyclic drops in their heartbeat. You may want to consider closer following and possibly an echocardiogram later in pregnancy.

Need rate and rhythm: At about 5 weeks the fetal heart is about the same as the mothers ( less than 100bpm) . By 9-10 weeks the fetal heart rate averages about 175bpm.  The fetus may have been under some distress or this may be normal. I would have it checked again at earliest convenience.  A uterine U/S can show if the fetal blood supply is adequate.
