4 weeks postop alif, was doing great, no leg or back pain, just recovery pain. now burning sensation & pain on top of feet, very painful & bad at night.

Neuropathy : Sounds like neuropathy or irritated nerves from the surgery. I would suggest a medication like Neurontin (gabapentin) or gralise.

i have varicose / spider veins worsening in my ankles /feet. it is extremely painful at night. i am 34 years old and drive a lot. what can i do to help for pain or what procedure can i do?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. You may try compression socks/stocking available without prescription. If that does not help it would be prudent to see your doctor.

Plantar fibroma: Is most likely diagnosis based on your description. Supportive shoes and padding may provide some relief. See podiatrist to have this evaluated so tretment options can be explored.

Have it looked at: Pain could be as a result of many different things. One would need to do a thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: trauma (fracture, tendon or ligamentous tear, arthritis, tight shoes) infection metabolic conditions (gout) musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality.

i have foot pain. it is intense. i started feeling this pain about a week and does not stop. walking is very painful. pill don't help. your thoughts?

Fibroma.: From what you describe it sounds like plantar fibroma.  Without seeing them its difficult to tell for sure.

Probably not: If you are on your feet much of the day, particularly doing heavy labor, skin hardening of feet is not unusual. You should use thick insoles, and use a skin lubricator like "bag balm"  on insoles twice per day

Keep Gyn close. : If your BP is normal and there’s no protein in your urine, then this could be simply related to pressure upon the inferior vena cava by the enlarging uterus.  That and the immobility. But just stay in close contact with your Gynecologist. Get your BP and urine checked often for the next few weeks. Try to walk around.

sudden foot pain and numbness on sole of foot. really painful, comes & goes over last 2 wks. not diabetic. what could it be?

Nerve: Most common causes are:

herniated disk causing pressure on one of the nerves going to the  foot (radiculopathy). Tarsal tunnel syndrome also can cause these kinds oif symptoms.

See a neurologist or an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.

is foot pain normal for a hypothyroid?in the morning while i eat, i have crampy painful feet. goes away during the day though.thankd

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: Foot pain and aching joints can be part of hypothyroid syndrome, but can also be a myriad of other things. I would visit my favorite podiatrist for an exam to rule out any other issues.
