i feel as if my mouth is alway dry and i'm constantly drinking water all day and still feeling dry & thirsty? i am not diabetic- i've been tested.

Dry mouth: Many medications can cause dry mouth.  Even many over the counter meds can do this.  If you are not peeing excessively, it may just be xerostomia (dry m).  Anxiety and your emotional state can do this.  Try some lemon in your water.  It stimulates the salivary glands which is why most have dry mouth - due to inactivity of the salivary glands.  See a doctor for tests.

how can i tell the different between dry mouth and excessive thirst? lately i have been feeling like my mouth is dry and i keep drinking water but nothing helps. i dont feel thirsty though my mouth just feels dry. im worried?

: Anxiety can cause one to have dry mouth. If you are under more than usual stress, that may be the explanation.
It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated.

Unsure: Constant thirst, often accompanied by persistent hunger and frequent urination are the classic signs of diabetes mellitus and increased need for water can also accompany diabetes insipidus and some other medical conditions, but have never heard of drinking water stimulating thirst.

May be related asthm: Your question is kind of confusing. If you do not feel thirsty ? You may be drinking other things in a fluid form. That may be compensating.May have to do with your activities and electrolytes?

Have a blood test.: If youre drinking more than 8 glasses of water a day and still thirsty, this can be a sign of diabetes. Less commonly, it may be a symptom of a hormonal disorder. A blood test will be able to discern many of these conditions.

High blood sugar?: Hi. Your poor mom; that must feel crummy. How is her diabetes control? If her blood sugar is very high, that causes excessive thirst (and urination). I think that is the most likely explanation. A test called the A1c would be good to get, but even a simple blood glucose test would tell if she is very high. She should control her diabetes very well to prevent eye, kidney, nerve, and heart problems.
