Accepted Answer

Yes: The positive factor must come from a parent, and if you are negative, dad donated the positive factor.

Accepted Answer

No: If mom is not infected there is no risk to the fetus.  On the other hand, unless mom is immune, since this is a sexually transmitted disease, the likelihood that she will acquire it is great, and she should undergo testing and immunization before becoming pregnant.

It : It would be exceptionally rare for a 2 week old baby to have an ulcer.  It is more likely acid reflux disease also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease which can be common in this age group.  Many babies have gastro-esophageal reflux (ger), but they are characterized as "happy spitters" who grow well.  The children with gastro-esophageal disease (gerd)experience painful heartburn from stomach acid which can cause the back arching you describe, irritability and crying with eating, constant crying, food refusal, and frequent spitting or vomiting.

Some infants will experience less common symptoms from gerd such as episodes where they stop breathing, hoarse voice, excessive drooling, ear and sinus infections, respiratory problems and poor weight gain or weight loss.

Once gerd is diagnosed, it can be treated with antacids, acid supressors or acid blockers.  The good news is with treatment, most children do well and outgrow this problem in the first year or two of life.

I'm : I'm sorry to hear about your great grandchild. Regarding the blood type for the baby, he could be o or a, and rh(+) or rh(-). In other words, 4 possibilities: o (+), o(-), a (+), or a(-).

Not necessarily: The millions of sperm released during sex tend to select out any impaired by drug use, making the healthier ones more likely to initiate conception. This is quite different than the one egg at a time, influenced by all of mom's habits  effect that drug may have on the egg and later the fetus under such influence..

can my father who has mrsa inside of his leg, hold my newborn?

Accepted Answer

MRSA: Mrsa usually colonizes the skin and nose, so it's likely to be on the body.  That said if the skin of your baby is intact it would be unlikely to infect him.  If he keeps the wound covered and  washes his hands i would probably let him (for a little while).  It's also probably a good idea to avoid sharing sheets, towels, and personal items.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes Shingles is reactivated chicken pox virus.  Your children most certainly can catch it.  Your 5 year old I hope has had the chicken pox vaccine but your newborn has not.  Until lesions are crusted over your father should stay clear of any one immunocompromised or otherwise vulnerable.

Growth Spurts: There are no specific exact times. Babies go through their growth spurts, they cry to nurse more frequently and yes, your body meets their demands by producing more milk. Let nature do her work and you will notice she will send your body clues as she needs more nutrition. :)

Not really: I think tony randall was in his seventies when he and his wife achieved a pregnancy.  A man's sperm count may drop as he ages.  There may be more abnormal forms of sperm and more sluggish sperm.  But it only takes one.

Qpap infant drops: Is known as acetaminophin and does not cause drowsiness.
