Apply moist heat to the outside of your face just opposite your jaw joint, use Advil, Motrin or Aleve (naproxen) if you can take them, and stick on a soft diet for awhile. Even if this improves quickly, have your TMJoints and occlusion evaluated by a dentist to determine if this was just a quirk or a precursor to a chronic condition.

Ice, rest, rx: Follow the instructions given to you closely. It is reasonable to have some soreness within the first week or two, however it should be improving. Take the pain medication provided as instructed.  If you feel the pain suddenly get worse around day 3-4, you should contact your doctor. Either way, dint hesitate to follow up with your doctor the week after to get personalized advice.

the shorter answer is no; a pinched nerve will not affect the whole side of the body.  But....That could happen in the spinal cord, or in the brain.  You should consider consulting a neurologist.

Can you  be seen: By your doctor? Could be migraines and if once a month may be related to periods. If medicine bothers you, consider seeing an acupuncturist and/or a homeopathic practitioner. Both of those modalities have a lot to offer. Acupuncture can balance hormones and potentially reduce/abort your headaches if they are hormonally related.
