i have erythromycin ointment for eyelid lump and redness.  should this go in the eye?  she said just to cover eyelid to base of lashes.  is this right

Chalazion: Best easy approach is to apply dry hot compress to the eye lid for 5-10 min then apply the ointment  inside the lower eye lid.  The body temperature will melt it and it will go where it needs to go.  Do this 4 times a day.  If it is not resolved within 5-7 days it may need to be treated with minor surgery.  The compresses may work equally effective without the ointment.

all of a sudden my left eyelid had a lump  now its swollen all the way. and i have.allergies what can be the cause of this ? and how long will it last

Infection likely: A lump in the eyelid is often a stye or chalazion, which is a blockage of an oil gland in the lid. However, if the whole lid becomes diffusely swollen and tender, then it is probably infected (cellulitis), and this should be promptly treated, usually with oral and topical antibiotics. Sometimes allergies could cause lid swelling, but not usually just on one side.

Stye?: If it is under the skin, and does not hurt, it could be a chalazion (otherwise known as a stye). You can try using warm compresses to see if it goes away.  If it does not, you should see your eye doctor.

: Sounds like a sty but there are several other possibilities.  You need to have a doctor look at it (virtual or in person) before making a “real” diagnosis and suggesting treatment

Possible Stye: Place warm washclothes over that eye with the lid closed. Replace as soon as it loses it 's heat. Apply for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Likely fat deposit: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you, however, what you described suggests fat deposit. If it is only on one side, it is a cosmetic issue only. If it is present on both eyes, it may due to metabolic disturbance of lipids. If it is unilateral and a cosmetic issue it could be removed by an eye doctor or plastic surgeon.
