our son, 2 yrs old, woke up this morning with a swollen eye lid. only one eyelid. eye is not red or discoloured. only the eye lid is swollen. also not puss or discharge. not red or irritable. slightly discomfort. any thing that we can do or give?

Observe: Likely from mild trauma or an early stye.  Do not do anything at present but observe it,  If swelling spreads to face or there is any fever (both unlikely) have him checked by MD

Infection: Infection in the eyelid is likely and I recommend an examination by your physician or ophthalmologist. In the meantime apply warm soaks until you're examined.

Blocked Duct: After any eye infection (allergic, viral, etc) it is not uncommon to see blocked ducts that are located in the eyelid around the eyelashes. This can create what many call a stye but is likely a chalazion or hordeolum. Either way, warm compresses and gentle massage can relieve the clogged duct. You may need antibiotic eye drops if the clogged duct gets infected. For now try the compresses and see.

Stye: Usually warm moist heat topically several times a day helps it go away.  If it persists past a week see an opthamologist.

Yes: Given the timing of the symptoms, most likely it is a stye and not a chalazion.  Continue using wash compresses as much as possible.  It the pain or swelling worsens, then a topical or oral antibiotic may be required.

Conjunctivitis: Given the fact eye infection associated with upper respiratory infection, viral conjunctivitis is suspected.  However, since ear infection is also  found not infrequently in this circumstance,  I would recommend her be checked by her primary care provider.

i had my chalazion removed almost 2 weeks ago on my upper eyelid and it's still swollen and now it's starting to get slowlen under my eye? i

Chalazion: Could be there is still scar tissue in that gland or an adjacent gland. There are about 20-25 glands in the upper eyelid &amp; each gland can get clogged/chalazion. See your surgeon about injecting a small amount of steroid (risks: see eyedoc2020@blogspot.com) or re-excision which is sometimes needed.

Mgt: He may have an infection, please see a physician right away. They can then determine the need for hospitalization and antibiotics.

Eyelid bump: Likely stye that was infected. Do not press it. Use  warm compresses  6-8 times a day . Wash gently with baby shampoo.  Follow up with MD/urgent care they can give you topical antibiotics  to facilitate rapid healing.
