Definitely, yes: The most frequently identified myofacial trigger points in the body. Pain is referred up to the mastoid process, angle of the mandible, temple and back of the orbit (eye). Major source of “tension HA” or tension type headache. Tearing up  is a sign of autonomic cephalgia.

Cluster vs migraines: It could be cluster of migraines, either could present this way. They both would be more severe than mild normally. Any sinus issues? That could also be a cause. If you start noticing vision changes in that eye, than consult a physician as this could be more serious. Discuss with your physician what medications you can take to break these headaches and the pain on right. Last eye exam? Important.

Consider dry eyes: Rest covers your lids and always feel better. You need to see your eye doctor and have them do a test to see if you have exposure issues. Always use moist warm compresses for better lubrication to coat your eyes with natural oils from your eyelid's meibomian glands. Also using lubricating drops and ointment at night helps. Get it checked out!

Sinus: Most pain in or around an eye is from sinusitis or headache.  Pain reliever and decongestant should relieve it.  If not, or if it is getting worse, go see your doctor.  It could also be due to an eye problem such an inflammation in (called uveitis) or around the eye.  You need to see an eye doctor to really rule this out.
