is there a way at preventing lice after exposure?

Sure.: Avoid contact with others hair; do not share clothing--especially hats, scarves, hair bows. Do not share combs or brushes. Do not lie on beds, pillows, carpets or stuffed toys of those with head lice. Wash clothes, bed linens, etc with hot water (at least 130*f) & use the high heat drying cycle.  Prophylactic treatment  with otc or prescription medications can also be prudent for head lice control.

Head : Head lice is the most common cause of lice infestation.  They are transmitted by person to person contact such as sharing combs, pillows, hats, headphones, etc. - they cannot jump or fly.  Since they die if not feeding on a human after 2 days, furniture and carpets are not commonly thought of a way to transfer lice.  Diagnosis is made by seeing adult lice or "nits" which are little white egg sacks cemented onto the hair shaft.  If you have not seen these, you do not have lice.  Usually, the adult lice are transmitted alive, so if you have them, you see them from the beginning.  If you do find head lice, you can treat it with over the counter treatments such as rid or nix (permethrin).  You can also call your doctor for advice.

Bumps and itch: Typically red very itchy bumps, and specifically for scabies burrow like rash that is itchy and most commonly in areas of skin folds.

Need more info: There is quite a range of possibilities.  Does your scalp have any scaly areas, or pimples, or bumps, or blisters, or sores, or areas of rapid hair loss?  Any information about the appearance of your scalp would help narrow it down.

Question confusing: In general, a person can catch lice from another person only if the second person has lice or eggs that can hatch. It doesn't matter whether or not the infested person shows visible signs of lice, but most lice-infested persons are itching a lot. This question is unclear and doesn't say which shampoo, who's using it, where it's being used, or why someone is getting shampooed.

Infection: Swollen occipital lymph nodes can be an immune response to an infection in your sinuses, throat, ear or eye. The itchy scalp may be unrelated and caused by a fungal infection. Talk to your GP about any additional symptoms that could be related to infection, and use an over the counter shampoo containing selenium sulfide for the itchy scalp.

Cortisone cream: I would advise using a topical cortisone cream and keeping the scalp clean with a gentle shampoo. watch for signs of infection. Please follow up with your physician.
