i have the nexplanon implant and had it replaced after 3 years this may. during the replacement the doctor switched the implant from my left arm to the right. 3 months later i'm having dark brown discharge for 1 month and now heavy bleeding. help?

: This is very normal. Nexplanon is notorious for irregular spotting and breakthrough bleeding, even if you did not experience this during your first implant. Wait it out a couple more months to let your body adjust, and if the bleeding continues and/or is prohibitive to your quality of life, discuss with your provider about removing it and switching to an alternative form of birth control.

i have implanon implant that has expired! last month i spotted for 9 days and this month no bleeding what so ever! neg blood test last month? what?

Get it removed: There is still medicine in your implanon. For the company to say that you have 3 full years of coverage, they have to put extra medicine into the implanon. If you get pregnant, your baby will be exposed. Use condoms until you can get your doctor to remove the implanon.

i have  a nexplanon implant in my arm for about five months never got cramps or bleed. yesterday i started  spotting and cramping is itnormal?

Yes: Nexplanon secretes a steady level of progestins that prevent ovulation and therefore prevents pregnancy. There is no estrogen in Nexplanon therefore no regular cyclic bleeding. Any bleeding pattern is normal... All the time spotting, cyclic menses. Or occ menses like you have had now. It is good birth control though so hang in there!

i use an implanon implant but im  spotting bleeding during sex with my partner, and it's about 10day (just spot bleed )is this a normal side-effect?

Yes: Implanon now called Nexplanon is one of the most effective methods around.  It is considered to be about 98% effective. A lack of periods is a normal side effect for some. For others irregular spotting is common. Either way the method is still effective.

in april i got an implanon rod inserted in my arm. i have been bleeding two months straight. will it stop any time soon? is this a problem?

Hopefully: Some people have bleeding for 2-3 months after insertion.  If it last longer follow up the the person who inserted it to make sure everthing is ok.

Probably: An incision in made after local anesthesia so a little but of discomfort seems unsurprising. If it continues or looks infected schedule a follow up visit so the provider can check it.

May be normal : It may take a few months after Implanon is removed for your regular cycle to return.  Did you have regular menses before the Implanon was placed? because if you did not ovulate regularly before, it is likely you still won't.  do you want to get pregnant?  if not get Nexplanon placed or start another reliable form of contraception.

Expected side effect: Nexplanon is an implant that releases hormones slowly to allow contraception and prevents pregnancy. Unfortunately, you can have irregular bleeding secondary to it that may or may not resolve with few cycles. See how you feel about it and speak to your obgyn if heavy bleeding occurs.

Withdrawal bleeding: The Nexplanon removal caused the subsequent bleeding as your body withdraws from its' hormonal influence.
