Check your hip: Hip problems typically cause thigh pain as well as buttock pain. However fractured hips generally hurt more when weight-bearing. Femoral nerve problems are often worse with hip flexion but shouldn't cause buttock pain. Any pain worse when recumbent is worth getting checked out, soon.

Question unclear and: Details matter, such as what a person means by "muscle stops working." The quadriceps are the huge muscles that extend (straighten) the knee. Any problems with the quadriceps (quads) will affect the knee and affect walking, running, standing, getting up and down from a chair or from the floor, etc...  One's primary care doctor can evaluate and see where to go next.

Yes: A small/superficial injury to the skin of your hand should heal without any issue, even with your wrist exercises.  It sounds like the injury is not over a joint so you should be fine.  Just keep the wound clean (frequent hand washing and keep it covered until it heals or a scab forms) to prevent infection.

Too early to tell: If it is properly fitted for you/your case, the temporary cast should work well. Casting basically works to immobilize the area and protect it from further injury. Healing is from your body and not the cast. Tendon injury may take many wks to heal and so 1 wk is too early to tell. Close follow-up with the doc is recommended for reassessment/care. Good luck.

Contract differently: When holding a weight up, against gravity, both flexors and extensors should contract, but with those muscles doing most of the work doing most of the contracting, and the other muscles on the other side of the arm just contracting a little bit to keep the person in balance, and to control the steadiness of the arm.

: I think you have terms mixed up. Quadriceps is the muscle on the front of thigh used to kick you foot up when seated on a chair. Maybe you mean robotic surgery that is quadriceps sparing?  Vs a real Dr doing it with out controlling the robot.  All surgical robots are controlled by a Dr. So far.
