Depends.....: Exercising after getting stitches depends on the location of the stitches, depth of injury, and whether or not deeper structures (tendons, ligaments, joints, muscle) were involved.  Consult with your doctor for specific recommendations.

Hard to say w/o exam: A stitch will usually go away pretty quickly after stopping exercise. I recommend calling your doctor. It's really not possible to give advice about an individual's symptoms online. Your doctor will probably ask you a number of questions to determine whether you need to be seen.

Right side?: Common location for referred diaphragm pain after exercise. If persistant, not improving need evaluation.

If left side, atypical chest/heart pain could be a concern and certainly need evaluation

had hand surgery on palmer crease, cut reopened after stitches removed, how to care for and exercise hand now, also how long before fully functional?

Accepted Answer

Hand wound: It is not unusual for palm incisions to "gap".  Typically i would soak the wound with soapy water for 10-15 minutes 2-3 times per day and keep it covered with a band aide or dry gauze depending in the size of the wound.  I typically do not recommend ointment   i would let your treating surgeon know to make sure they agree.  This can delay healing for 1-2 weeks.

can exercise affect on my uterus stitches from repeat cs 3 mo ago?

I tell my pts: Can exercise but no abdominal exercise for 4 months after delivery as it can ruin your rectus abdominus muscles, your stiches should be healed in your uterus at 3 mos  have more chance of havinbg problems form your fascia layer or other stiches.

had my baby almost 5weeks ago, natural no stitches, went to the doctor got a papsmere, is it okay to have sex or exercise?  i have no pain or blood.

Probably so: Check with your doctor first. 5 weeks after delivery, if you feel up to it - sex and exercise are probably ok.

i had stitches removed 6 day ago which are on my forehead and a scab has formed.  will areobic exercise improve or worsen the chance of it scarring ?

Dermal scarring: Routine exercise will improve healing in all body stores.  I can not garentee that increasing your workout now will do anything noticeable one way or the other.  I would avoid any vitamin creams as the NIH just did a Vitamin E study showing no benefit and more detrimental effects.  Avoid the sun and sunburns to the area and do not pick at the scab.
