my brother had one episode of mild acute cholangitis and the reason which caused this is a gallstone that obstructed his cbd. he was immediately given antibiotics and stone was removed in 3 weeks. will it cause acute or chronic hepatitis?

: Stone induced ascending acute cholangitis (likely bacterial infection) is an acute hepatitis but it should resolve completely with treatment, not lingering as a chronic hepatitis. Stone was removed, how's about the gallbladder? It should be removed as well.

Probably not: If you have gallstones then what will trigger an attack is contraction of the gallbladder and getting a stone blocking the duct that drains the gallbladder. Antibiotics wouldnt do this. Usually the cause is eating, particularly fatty foods. If you have gallstones you shoud consider having surgery to remove it before it becomes an emergency.

See a GI doctor: If the bile ducts remain blocked for a prolonged period of time, severe damage to the liver or pancreas or infection can occur. Because gallstone symptoms may be similar to those of a heart attack, appendicitis, ulcers, an accurate diagnosis is important. See a gastroenterologist ASAP.

Depends on severity: Pancreatitis related to ERCP can range from minimal symptoms to severe pancreatitis which can be life threatening.  Depending on the severity of pancreatitis, this can resolve over a period of days to weeks/month.  Also it is important to make sure that all stones were cleared from the bile duct. No alcohol ; low fat diet. You should see the gastroenterologist that did the ERCP for more guidance.

i was diagnosed with gallstones. will the antibiotic called cipro (ciprofloxacin) help get rid of my gallstones? why was i prescribed cipro (ciprofloxacin), zofran, and percocet?

No: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is an antibiotic that will have no effect on gallstones. It can be used to treat infection in the gallbladder. Zofran is used for symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting.  Percocet is used to treat pain.

Gastroenterologist: I assume a gastroenterologist has evaluated you. Have you been tested for gluten intolerance or sensitivity? If so get retested while you're actually eating gluten foods in your diet. Maybe a trial of pancreatic enzyme supplements or a course of cholestyramine would be worthwhile. Severe irritable bowel syndrome is a possibility and you could try a fodmap diet.

Spasm: biliary colic causes flatulence and delaying surgery will ultimately lead to emergency surgery or death: I suggest removing the gallbladder: new laparoscopic surgery will have you home in 1 day; however, if you wait, you could be looking at a hospital stay of 1-2 weeks if your  gb ruptures

Symptoms vary: Gallstones may not produce any symptoms. When they do, it usually is intermitent, widely spaced episodes. Symptoms can be pain or even indigestion or 'heartburn' like sensations. (ingested foods worsen gallbladder symptoms, but, usually calm ulcer symptoms). As troubles worsen, gallbladder pain can become continuous and sharper/ more intense.

Medicine or surgery: Surgery to remove the gallbladder and stones, laparoscopic, will resolve the problem. Otherwise avoid fatty, fried, grasy foods & may need to take pain medication temporarily from your doctor.
