Irregular perios: Irregular periods are very common. If you pregnancy test is negative you can track them over the next fee moths and see a doctor if they stay irregular. Vaginal discharge requires an exam for infection testing

Other potential causes include anovulation (no egg release), hormonal dysfunction, eating disorders, rigorous exercise, stress, thyroid or other hormonal dysfunction, systemic diseases (lupus, kidney disease, thyroid disease), and pcos to name a few. You should be evaluated by your doctor.

Do you mean...: You had sex a couple months ago, she has since had 2 normal periods, and is now late for her 3rd?  If this is what you mean, and you have not had sex since then, she's not pregnant, or at least it's very unlikely.  Women miss periods all the time . There are many reasons for a missed period - stress, polycystic ovarian syndrome, malnutrition - are a few possibilities.

If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Birth control pills: Yes - if you become pregnant while using the pill, most women will still miss their period/withdrawal bleed. If you are taking the placebo pills and not getting a period, you should take a pregnancy test.
