Same drug: The original name for this hormone combination was mircette (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel).The brand name drug is protected by a patent for a period of time.When that patent runs out, another drug company  can make that same medicine with the same basic ingredients, but a different name.This is called a "generic" drug. The fda assumes that this medicine works the same, but blood levels may vary.Side effects should be the same.

i stopped taking my bc desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) and i'm having a lot of thin white discharge. what is causing this? on bc i had vag.dryness now a lot of discharge.

Probably normal: While on birth control pills, estrogen levels are decreased thus leading to vaginal dryness.  Now that your ovaries are producing more estrogen, the discharge is probably more than you would expect, but normal.

Why switching?: Really shouldn't be any, unless you were having problems with loestrin24...Hopefully the switch will fix any problem you were experiencing. If you were not having any problem, you shouldn't have any problem with Desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) either.
