Not normally: Estrogen gel is usually low dose a minimally absorbed so it should not cause weight gain the way an estrogen tablet would.

Talk to your doc!: You didn't mention your specific symptoms of low estrogen so perhaps they're not related to low estrogen after all. Whether to increase your dose is best addressed by your prescribing physician. Another option is to consider another form of estrogen replacement, preferably something transdermal, say patch or spray. Or just try another gel/lotion/cream product. Some products absorb better than othe.

Hormonal changes: If your weight loss was rapid then you are likely decreasing your amount of circulating Estrogen. Fat cells secrete Estrogen. Losing the fat decreases the Estrogen. Consider getting your thyroid and blood sugar checked too. Congrats on the weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Age is the culprit: Lots of studies have been done on women on and off hormones in their fifties. Everyone gains the same amount of weight. It is a tough age. Diet and exercise are your best bet.

There: Is no evidence to say that using 1/2 the amount is more safe.  Transdermal estrogen is safe, 2 pumps, if it cures your hot flashes, is the recommended dose.  Take as indicated but yes, 2 pumps is low.  Good luck.

Very Controversial: Technically yes as tumor was estrogen receptor negative but may cause slightly higher risk of developing er positive tumors in the future.

Monitor closely: Using an antiandrogen blocks the actions of male sex hormones (androgens)/reduces the amount of male sex hormones produced by the body. It should not be used in patients with uncontrolled diabetes. It can also cause depression. Estrogen, may relieve depressive symptoms, but has the risk of blood clots. It increases serotonin and can elevate mood. A Dr should be monitoring you closely
