Back pain: After pregnancy is not caused by an epidural needle but by loose ligaments in your spine caused by Progesterone and overall core muscle weakness. Exercise will help with back pain caused by weak core muscles.

Leg numbness,weaknes: Epidural to relieve contraction related pain is effective in managing pain during labor! however, sometimes, you can get temporary paralysis of your lower extremities that may resolve with discontinuation of your epidural. 
You often get fluids prior to getting an epidural because it often causes hypo-tension, or drop in bp, that may affect circulation to your baby. So your OB doc watches u closel.

Talk to your OBGYN: Or a women's clinic, or midwife or doula to find support groups and reassurance. Try the hollywood birth ctr or amazing births ; beyond. Even long-distance these people are likely to offer lots of that. Close-up would be best. No doubt, the physical feelings (even when all is normal) are powerful, but most feel it is quite worth it. Remind yourself that it is the most normal thing in life.

The : The medications typically used for an epidural while in labor are anesthetics such as bupivicaine, chloroprocaine, and lidocaine.  These are not in the barbituate or benzodiazepine families and would not show up on a drug test as such.  Sometimes mothers are given a pain killer prior to the epidural which might show up on a drug test as an opioid, but that would have been documented in the medical record.  If you have questions about the testing and whether any prescribed medications could have shown up as barbituates or benzodiazepines in the drug screening, you should call your ob/gyne doctor.

These are not in the barbituate or benzodiazepine families and would not show up on a drug test as such. Sometimes mothers are given a pain killer (narcotic) prior to or in the epidural which might show up on a drug test as an opioid, but that will be documented in the medical record.  There are other medications that could have been given to you in the benzodiazepine or barbituate classes for various reasons, so the best thing to do is ask!  if you have specific questions about the testing and whether any other prescribed medications could have shown up as barbituates or benzodiazepines in the drug screening, you should call your ob/gyne doctor.

See below: A labor epidural is used to provide analgesia for childbirth.  Local anesthetics are infused into the space putting to sleep the spinal nerves to the pelvic region.  An epidural steroid injection is used for treatment of back pain.  In this case, steroids mixed with saline are placed into the epidural space with the intention of coating the spinal nerves with a potent anti-inflammatory.

Varies: This varies greatly with the institution and their staffing, time of day and how busy the rest of the hospital is. You should discuss this with your OB prior to delivery.
