i've been on epiduo for 3 weeks now coming into my 4th and i'm still breaking out i knows there's an initial breakout but is this normal?

Epiduo: Epiduo is a great product but rarely is the product as mono therapy. Most of the time it is used with an oral antibiotic such as solodyn (minocycline) or monodox. If you use both products for 4-6 weeks and still see no improvement you would need another antibiotic or go on accutane.

You can try OTC: products with hydroquinone and hydroxy acids or retinol or may need higher strength prescription from dermatologist

I : I would recommend you follow up with your dermatologist b/c it sounds like you might benefit from an antibiotic. An antibiotic would help reduce the inflammation and improve the red bumps that occur after shaving.  I would consider combining that with either epiduo or BenzaClin (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) (or similar).  Also, make sure that when you shave, you go with the grain, not against it as some of your hairs might be slightly ingrown and causing inflammation and the bumps.

due to my medium cystic acne i got prescribed epiduo forte. since 4 days im using this treatement. i got a lot of new inflammation (pustules) on my breakout areas. my skin is oily and extremly dry. the skin peels exzessivly and the face is red?

: It seems as though you have Inflammatory Acne. Treatment should be either an oral or topical antibiotic along with an appropriate acne wash and a topical retinoid. See a dermatologist for evaluation and the proper treatment.

i am 30 weeks pregnant. can i use epiduo cream for my breakouts? its the only cream that works for my face. if i cant use it. is there anything similar in ingredients that i could use thats safe?

Basics: As a rule most creams/lotions applied to the skin surface do no penetrate the skin deep enough for their meds to enter the blood. This includes the cream you mentioned. To affect a fetus medications must enter the blood that would then enter the placenta.

A mild cleanser: Epiduo can be irritating to the skin and generally we recommend using a mild cleanser to begin with. If you aren't  experiencing any irritation with the epiduo, then you can try a facial cleanser that contains salicylic acid.

Epiduo: Epiduo side effects can last for some time. To overcome its side effects stop using the gel when your your face gets red or too dry. Use a moisturizer to restore your skin and then you can restart the epiduo

Short lived: Redness and irritation from topical preparations should subside within a few days after discontinuing the offending agent.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Medications that contain a retinoid (such as adapalene, tretinoin, or tazarotene) have a powerful effect on preventing acne lesions, but also help smooth scarring and lighten marks (hyperpigmented areas) left by pimples.  It can be a slow process, but little by little this medication should help.

i'm currently on epiduo would taking melanotan ii while being on it be ok? i was on it before i started the epiduo

Melanotan: There are no known side effects between epiduo and melanotan.  What this means is that there have not been enough studies of drug interactions with melanotan.
