Supplements: The fda is forbidden by the dhsea act to pass upon the quality of supplements.  This includes fish and other oils.  Look for a reliable brand but that is not a complete guarantee.  Until congress changes this law, we are stuck with unregulated products of uncertain concentration, unknown quality and no ability to detect impurities or toxins.

can only take small amounts of fish oil,   any alternative food sources of omega ?

Many alternatives: Flax oil, hemp seed oil and chia seeds are excellent sources of essential omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. However, many people do not efficiently convert the Alpha linolenic acid found in vegetable foods into dha, an essential omega 3 which is found in fish oil. Products like omegazen provide dha derived from algae so it might be wise to supplement with that or a similar product.

All Omega-3: This study looked at whether high bloodstream levels of certain vitamins were associated with a protective effect against developing prostate cancer.  Patients with high levels of omega-3's were expected to have a lower rate of prostate cancer, but it was the opposite.  In order to get to high levels, most people would be taking it as supplements.  Eating flaxseed in your diet may not be a problem.

Other fat: Fish oil is not regulated be the fda. Fish oil capsules contain other fat and some cholesterol depending on the source.

No : It is fine and somewhat healthy to take the supplements but no it has nothing to do with PC os.

Maybe not Ever: Statistical associations between fish oil (actually dha & epa from phytoplankton) & depression have been observed, but this does not prove cause & effect & no double-blind clinical trials to demonstrate efficacy have been started, much less completed, to my awareness. A majority of research is observational because it is cheaper & is used for sales promotion. Good luck; yet buyer beware, as always.

Safe: Unless you have an allergy to them, most experts feel that fish oil preparations have no serious side effects. Some people complain of bad breath or diarrhea taking them and they are somewhat of a blood thinner. All in all, i recommend them for their helpful effects on our health. See if your md agrees.

Few: Occasional muscle aching can be seen but usually none. Take CoQ10 to help if muscle ache occurs.

There are many ways: in which medications can cause nausea. Central CNS, local irritation and psychological. Any of these could apply to fish oil usage.
