Yes it can be: "small amounts" to an adult are NOT small amounts to a child. Energy drinks are primarily caffeine, which can have effects on children's growth, and unknown effects on the rest of their health. Tell your mother to STOP, and if she won't, you have to decide on whether you can allow your child to be with her. A family member or therapist may be needed to mediate this family problem.

i'm a 35 yr old female and everytime i start to drink coffee i end up having pain in my chest on the left side. i was told back in 1997 that i had developed pleurisy in my chest from drinking energy drinks but i read that caffeine doesn't cause pleurisy.

Not pleurisy: I agree that that caffeine does not cause pleurisy. As to why you get chest pain with coffee (just  caffeinated coffee or any hot liquid),I haven't a clue.If it is bothersome,stop drinking it.Doubt any serious problem.

does anyone know if the energy drink redline could be the cause for hyperparathyroidism? or hypothyroidism?  it contains camp.

Energy drinks: Putting camp into a drink will not do anything more than putting in lots of caffeine, which stimulates camp.  It's an energy drink.  It will not affect your hormones, although if you are already hyperthyroid it can worsen the symptoms.  See an endocrinologist to determine if indeed there is anything wrong with your parathyroid or thyroid.

They're unrelated: Energy drinks usually have lots of caffeine (which can affect your heart esp if you have an underlying condition, and affects sleep) and sugar (a problem esp if you're diabetic). The stool having blood may just be from a hemorrhoid or an anal fissure if fresh blood but if it continues and esp if you're over 40/ have a family history of cancer/ have anemia should go see your medical provider.

Like other soda: So called monster energy drinks have more caffeine but are not likely to cause kidney stones more that other sodas.
