fibrosure results- done bc elevated liver enzymes. mild steatosis, borderline, probable nash, 0 fibrosis- is this serious? i barely drink and am over weight.. will losing weight and healthy diet reverse this? im 38y/o bmi 33. enzymes ok now?

: Losing weight is imperative and you should avoid alcohol entirely. Avoid taking acetaminophen. Mild steatosis per se is not serious and is reversible through weight loss.

How long?: How long have your platelets been elevated?  Any lymph nodes felt?  Is your white blood count elevated?  A lot of missing information.  Any night sweats?  Given your age, certain things can be ruled out but would consider doing a bone marrow biopsy.  Why did you have a liver biopsy if spleen big?  Was there a concern for cirrhosis?  Need more information.  I wish i could help more.

i'm 5'4, 230lbs. have elevated liver enzymes. lexapro and percocet 1daily. could this be my weight or my meds? np doesn't seem worried but i am! i've lost 100lbs but sill over weight. can i ask for more testing? very scared. healthy otherwise.

Rule out...: I'm betting it's lack of exercise. You can address this. You need to have hepatitis B and C, Wilson's, hemochromatosis, and autoimmune hepatitis ruled out. If it's lack of exercise, there's often fat in the liver on ultrasound. This isn't to be taken lightly. I also trust you're sensible and don't drink alcohol. Why not hit the fitness circuit harder and see if it doesn't fix things?

Not really.: Weight lifting can elevate sgot, an enzyme found in the liver and muscle.  Sgpt is more the canary in the cage.  If i see someone with SGOT elevations (usually mild) with a normal SGPT (which comes only from liver), i order a cpk, which comes back elevated.  I see this frequently in my sports medicine practice, when patients work out in the morning before their appoinment with me!

Not necessarily: Elevated liver enzymes can be due to many reasons, the common ones are alcohol, hepatitis with viruses, side effect of drugs, circulatory issues etc. See this site for info and discuss the matter with the doctor who ordered the test.

Work it up: If they stay down when you're off all meds, the cause may simply be sensitive to something as simple as iboprofen. I trust you're not abusing alcohol -- that's dangerous and not much fun really. You may get checked for Wilson's, hepatitis B &amp; C, autoimmune hepatitis, and hemochromatosis. This may just be your body's way of asking for more exercise.

Be concerned. Very.: These are your warning of possible serious ilness. If you're drinking a lot, it's your warning to stop. You may be taking a medication that's wrong for you. You may have smoldering hepatitis B / C / hemochrmoatosis / Wilson's / autoimmune hepatitis. These will kill you if missed but are treatable. Or you may simply need to get back into physical fitness.

A single drink: A single drink will cause elevation of liver enzymes, if you test next morning.

Pheochromocytoma: It is possible but not likely. If Pheo is malignant then could go to liver.  Discuss with your team. Complex issue.  Rare disease.

Benzodiazepines: Benzo's like valium will test positive for six to eight weeks or even longer if one has been on them for some time. But, even one pill can last for a very long time.
