Usually not: Even though average D-dimer levels are higher in women on contraceptive pill, the results are still within normal levels. You may consult this site for more info:

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

took a d-dimer test in er it came back positive but negative cat scan could a dd test detect pregnancy they said normal is 500 my levels were 650????

No: A d dimer test will not detect pregnancy.

Not elevated d dimer: The cut-off of 500ng/ml allows the exclusion of VTE. A positive value is difficult to interpret, because several disease states may lead to increased d-dimer values.

Not always: Elevated. D dimer has many reasons. Severe. Sepsis.   Infections.  Malignancy.   Thromboembolic disease.   So. If there is severe inflammation it can raise it .  Negative. D. Dimer is used to. Rule out thromboembolic disease.  Being positive  could have any nonspecific reason.

Cannot say: A negative D-dimer result is good for excluding a clot, but a positive one is not diagnostic of a clot. Do you have any symptoms?

Perhaps: The d-dimer is a fibrin degradation product (or fdp) which represents a small protein fragment in blood after a blood clot is broken down. The value can be used to test for clotting or thrombosis problems. However, a single value or a value in isolation should not be used. Elevations may suggest a clotting problem.

Non specific test: I would put more stock in the negative radiology findings.  A d-dimer that is slightly elevated is so non-specific that it is really not at all helpful is making a diagnosis of anything.

Many things.: D dimer is only elevated when there is clot breakdown…..But that could occur at that low level from a variety of non serious things. Really need to know why the test was drawn to be able to interpret it properly.

Just a test: D-dimer is one of the parameter used for diagnosis. It can also be elevated in other conditions. So your physician must look at the history to include risk factors/physical exam/US/CT SCAN to make a diagnosis. but in case you do smoke please stop smoking
