Very similar!: Eczema-dry cracking psoriasis.  The same hla genes are identical for both. My belief is that they are variants of the same immune process, although many might disagree! i treat them the same way!

i have never had skin issues but suddenly have what appears to be eczema and psoriasis. also, redness and swelling under eyes intermittently.

Eczema: Skins issues can develop at any point. Sometimes this can happen for unclear reasons while at other times it could be related to medications, other conditions and photosensitivity etc. You should avoid sun exposure and plan to see a dermatologist as soon as possible. You can also see your PCP.

i am 24 year old female and i have started noticing grey hairs. i have a scalp skin condition that has not properly diagnosed. but it has been treated as eczema and psoriasis before. could this be causing premature grey hair?

Gray hair: I doubt that the skin disorder is related to your premature gray hair. Autoimmune disease, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress, thyroid or other hormonal changes and even stress have been named as causes. Your dermatologist can advise you best and order appropriate tests.

Differences: Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition due to genetic defects in the proteins and lipids supporting the skin layer/barrier called the epidermis. Ringworm is a skin infection due to a fungus. Psoriasis changes the life cycle of skin cells causing cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. Extra skin cells form thick, silvery scales and itchy, dry, red patches, that are painful.

Dermatologist: Not even family physicians can tell the difference in some difficult cases. Generally speaking, seb derm usually involves scalp and face. Itching is mild. Eczema can be anywhere of the skin and depends on type of eczema. Itching is very common. Psoriasis typically presents over elbows, knees and scalp. In severe cases, arms, legs, body can be involved. Itching may be none or mild.

i have dishydrotic eczema on my hands and  psoriasis on my elbows, could they be related?

They are.: And most liekly respond to the same systemic treatment. Thought by many to be two diseases, they share the same genetically prone hla markers.
