Eczema treatment: Eczema is a skin sensitivity which is controllable with  skin care measures, but should be expected to flare up from time to time.  Washing with hypoallergenic soaps, hydrating with hypoallergenic lotions, avoiding perfumed products, wearing loose natural fiber clothing, applying topical steroids with flaring, warm showers every other day and controlling itch will all help keep eczema at bay.

Soak and Seal skin: Change body wash to a dove, olay or cetaphil/cerave liquid body wash or no soap at all at bath time.  Immediately apply moisturizer (aquaphor healing ointment ) with you can adjust frequency depending on the complexion (average 2-3 times daily or more). Lighter lotions evaporate from the skin quickly. Greasy stay in longer-not as pleasant feeling. 1%hydrocortisone cream can be applied after.

Cold sore: No, probably not a good idea!  Cold sores are often caused by herpes virus, and eczema creams are usually some type of topical steroid.  A steroid may exacerbate the cold sore.  Best to leave it alone, let it dry up and crust.

Contact dermatitis: you are probably wearing some synthetic shoes or socks ,or you are washing socks in some detergent or softner.
try over the counter mild hydrocortisone creme
if no t better get it checked for fungus

what's the difference between lip eczema/dermatitis and cold sores/herpes? how do i know which i have?

Totally different: Lip dermatitis usually involves both upper and lower lips and is scaly itchy and sometimes hurts. It is not contagious and is not caused by a virus. Herpes is localized to one area of your lips and starts out with pain followed by blisters that then open and crust.This is contagious but can be treated with oral antiviral medications that will make it heal faster.

my 3 months old baby has dry skin patches all over his body. they are not red or itchy and more visible after bath. is it signs of eczema or just dry skin due to cold air and excessive baths?

Probably eczema: Could be eczema. Try bathing less and in lukewarm, not hot water. Apply moisturiser while skin is wet, and use a protective, emollient ointment on the dry patches such as aquaphor or eucerin ointment. Talk to your baby's dr- they can perform a visual exam of the skin and determine the cause.

2-3 days after i am cured from a cold my the skin on my fingers starts to peel off , the only medication that i take is tylenol (acetaminophen) or panadole as my cold is not that bad this has been going on for years doctors say it's eczema?

May be virus related: Skin peeling is a common symptom after certain viral infections. Eczema has specific physical features like raised bumps, dry skin and itchyness etc. The latter should be under control with topic steriods. If your symptoms bother you significantly, get a proper evaluation with your GP when you r down with your next cold. Feel better:)
