No, but what is it?: I'd expect MS to have a positive MRI and neurologic findings. The question is what IS the cause. Most people have EBV in their bodies; it's unlikely to cause this. There is : Not known side effect of MRI scan. Symptoms you refered could be contrast induced or a claustrophobic/anxiety attack. Not all MRI need contrast. Metal devices can go in the scanner. Piercing or medical devices.

widespread/random nerve tingle/crawling and jolts throughout body x 5 weeks. not localized. negative for lyme, hiv, and metals. labs normal. b12/sugars normal. no nerve impingements. waiting on brain mri. i do have hsv2 and ebv. thoughts? maybe ms?

EBV: Infectious mononucleosis, related to the Epstein Barr Virus, or EBV, has a pathogenesis related to spread through B cells and can be related to B cell lymphoma but this is the exception, not the rule, and EBV is almost ubiquitous in the human population without lymphoma. Concern for lymphoma involves painless weight loss,night sweats, gold standard test is imaging/ lymph node biopsy.

See details: A single positive on the Western blot means nothing. That is a negative test. Similarly a positive EBV IGG means old but not active disease. Why was the MRI ordered in the first place?

Not likely: There are many causes for hand/foot numbness and a physician will need much more information about you and to perform a neurological exam to begin to diagnose the cause.  EBV is very common.  It can cause different diseases (such as mono or lymphoma).  Numbness is not specific to EBV and many people have EBV that do not have numbness; so I would not suspect a direct relationship without more info

Neurologist: These symptoms suggest either impingement or disease of a superficial facial nerve or a lesion in the brain cortex. A neurologist is best qualified to evaluate and diagnose the cause of this symptom and appropriate tests will be ordered.

That can be worrisome and frustrating, but some of our most confounding problems are in the category of neuropathies  --         nerve dysfunctions, which sometimes have no clear underlying cause. Continue to follow up with your neurologist, as this may evolve to a more identifiable syndrome.
