Fluid: Sounds like you have fluid behind the eardrum or something else going on. Hard to say without examining it but you can try some decongestant nose spray.

Not antibiotic: You may have a fungal infection in the ear canal and thus would not likely respond to abx.  If there is no history of ear drum perforation, some OTC anti-fungal ear drops (usually containing acetic acid) may be helpful. If problem persists, see your doctor to get checked out.

Needs evaluation: If you are having fluid leaking out of your ears that isn't coming from a shower or bath, you should definitely have a doctor look at your ears to evaluate what is going on. Outer ear infections can cause oozing, and are treated with antibiotic ear drops.

See ENT: the wet feeling sometime is normal, if there is nothing actually draining out, it is a reflux .
the feeling that there is something in the ear but is not, need to be checked

Urgent care: Severe ear pain may be associated with an ear infection, Otitis Media. Please follow up. Motrin and a warm compress applied locally may relieve pain. Watch for fever, cough and chills.

i have been advised to keep my ears dry due to cholesteatoma. what happens if you get a cholesteatoma wet?

Accepted Answer

Infection: The water carries bacteria from the ear canal skin with it and can cause infection of the cholesteatoma.  Such an infection would lead to increased pain, drainage, possible progression of hearing loss.  If you have not been advised already, I would consider consultation with an ear surgeon to have the cholesteatoma removed to make your ear dry and safe., particularly at your age.
